A Typographic Landscape of Philadelphia

I made these posters to celebrate the signs of Philly. If you live in Philly, you might notice a sign and think, “I know I’m close to home.” Whether you pass by these signs on your daily commute, or you’re checking them out on Google Street View, these signs tell a story. Some scream, “Look at me!” and some choose to whisper quietly. Many of them use daring type combinations, risky kerning, and iconic illustration. Some echo vernacular from the past, some are complex and layered, some are minimal and straightforward, but all of them have a story to tell.
