2020 Lunar Calendar

The lunar cycle has been a common timekeeping device for humans across the world.

Native American tribes would often use moon phases to keep track of the seasons and gave a unique name to each recurring full moon. Common themes in these names included crop availability, fishing, and hunting. These names were accompanied by legends and oral traditions that transmitted cultural customs. In this lunar calendar, I used brightly colored, dynamic illustration to synthesize these stories.
